Working on your baby boy or baby girl’s nursery? Here are some ideas from the nurseries I designed for my 2 under 2.
Here are some ideas for nursery decor for the new addition to your family. I had a baby girl and baby boy less than two years apart and it was fun designing both spaces for them!
Baby Girl Nursery
For my baby girl’s room, I went with a muted pink/dusty rose and neutral color scheme. I chose floating acrylic shelves on the wall and opted for a faux olive tree in the corner. Her dark brown toy storage on the far left wall is an older storage unit I have had since college!
Her changing area was decorated with vintage photos and mirrors from the thrift store, and I used my favorite carts from the container store to organize items used for bathing. See a similar cart here.
My go-to acrylic drawers from the container store were the key to her closet organization. I also used these acrylic bins to organize socks, hats, and bows on the top shelf. I used a labeler to label the contents of each drawer.
Her reading nook ended up being a place my daughter loves. She likes to sit behind the chair and read. The chair we chose really accentuates the space. It is by the brand Best Chairs and a couple of similar options can be found here and here.

Baby Boy Nursery
For my baby boy’s room, I chose muted grays and neutrals for the color scheme with accents of blacks and brown.
His changing area was decorated with a gallery wall made with frames from the thrift store. The images are black and white minimalist illustration posters from Etsy. I also used another container store cart to store items used for diaper changing.
His play cabinet area was decorated with a vintage map found at Home Goods as well as with heirloom pieces passed down from family friends.
This post was all about nursery decor ideas. I had so much fun designing both of these spaces during my pregnancies and am happy with how both spaces turned out!
I want to give a special thanks to my cousin (contractor contact: markis.nurepublic@gmail.com), dad, and father-in-law who helped assemble a lot of the furniture in the nursery – they really helped my vision come to life!
